Cost-Effective Engagement Techniques

Overview. While the most cost-effective engagement techniques depend on the person and context, there are some fairly universal principles:

  • Word of mouth can be very cost-effective.
  • If you can influence people’s intrinsic forces in cost-effective ways, intrinsic forces (particularly mindsets, pleasures, desires, and habits) offer powerful, renewable engagement resources.

Power of word of mouth. Word of mouth is when your people persuade each other to use your health program. The keys to fostering continuous word of mouth are to (1) follow our Success Formula (i.e. simultaneously grab attention, build trust, and promote your people’s health dreams) and (2) make it easy for your people to connect socially.

Video and social connection. Because a large percentage of your people’s lives are outside the workplace, video is very efficient way to reach them. When videos entertain and help people achieve health dreams, they share them with each other (think viral video). When you combine our videos with our other engagement techniques such as Targeted Presentations, Health Rules and Social Connection, you’ve set the stage for powerful word of mouth and cost-effective engagement and behavioral promotion.

Power of Intrinsic Forces. Intrinsic forces not only substantially influence your people’s overall behavior; they influence where they pay attention and what engages them. When you help your people build healthier intrinsic forces, you are creating renewable resources. Like solar power, healthier intrinsic forces keep giving and giving over time, making them a very cost-effective engagement and behavioral promotion technique.
