Why use success stories? Success stories are a powerful engagement and behavioral promotion technique. They work because of the power of social proof: i.e. the way that reliable evidence from the experiences of others materially influences behavior. When people see that others just like them have succeeded with a shared challenge, it increases their engagement and confidence they can succeed.
Success story example. Consider your employee, Sally Smith, 35 years-old, 5’3”, 155lbs, who eats fairly healthy but hates exercise. Sally doesn’t know that her exercise aversion is a learned behavior that she can unlearn. So, our success story system shows her the stories of women just like her who overcame exercise aversions – including the details of how they did it.
How we help you use success stories. We can provide you a stand-alone success story system or integrate one with our other engagement techniques. Either way, we’ll help you integrate the success stories into your health programs.
Harnessing your community’s success stories. We recommend that during your Environment and Community Assessment, we help you find your own people’s success stories that can be added to your health programs. And, as we find new success stories in your community, we’ll add them too.
